Age of Female Heads of Households in Iran Reaches 14 Years Old

The CEO of Imam Ali Society stated: The average age of female heads of households in the country ranges from 18 to 60 years, however, in some provinces where child marriage is common, women as young as 14 to 15 years old shoulder the responsibility of managing households. Currently, we have approximately 3 million female heads of households across the country, and the obtained statistics show that over the past 10 years, the number of families with female heads of household has increased by 58 percent compared to male-headed families.
He said: The fact that the age of female household headship has reached 14 years old is a major problem that occurs as a result of events such as underage marriage and consequently divorces at young ages.
