‘Ali Khamenei’: Fall of Assad Regime Was a Joint Plan of the US and Israel
‘Ali Khamenei’ reacted to the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime, stating that this matter was a joint plan of the United States and Israel.
The rebel attack, which had started from the province of ‘Idlib’ in northwestern Syria, captured Damascus, the center of Bashar Assad’s power, in just one week. This development ended the reign of the Assad family. Bashar’s government adopted a repressive structure upon coming to power.
Although there were initially hopes for reforms, not only did these hopes bear no fruit, but instead of reforms, he used his power to severely suppress protesters, and as a result, the peaceful protests of 2011 turned into a civil war that left more than half a million dead and millions of displaced persons.
Ali Khamenei, in reaction to the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria, declared that the fall of this regime was a joint plan of the United States and Israel, and without mentioning any specific country by name, stated that a neighboring country of Syria also played an obvious role in this event.
He added on Wednesday, December 21st, regarding the cooperation of Syria’s neighboring country: Everyone knows this, but the main orchestrators, conspirators, and planners of the Assad regime’s collapse are Israel and the United States. It appears that Turkey was one of the most important supporters of the Syrian armed rebels after the decline of Iranian and Russian influence on the Syrian political scene.
Ali Khamenei’s remarks come as Iran, over the past more than a decade, in addition to deploying its own military forces extensively, also deployed Afghan and Pakistani forces residing in Iran under the umbrella of two legions ‘Fatimiyoun’ and ‘Zainabiyoun’ in exchange for financial aid and Iranian residence permits, playing an important role in favor of Bashar Assad in Syria’s civil war.
In his speech today, without referring to the failure of his proxy groups over the past year, he declared: “I tell you that by divine will and power, the scope of resistance will encompass the entire region more than before. This is the resistance front—the more pressure you apply, the stronger it becomes. The more crimes you commit, the more motivated it becomes. The more you fight it, the more it expands.”
Given that Syria was considered Iran’s main communication route with the Hezbollah group in Lebanon, and after Israeli strikes against its members and the important role of this group and its military equipment in exercising Iranian influence in the region, Ali Khamenei claimed that do not doubt that the occupied areas of Syria will be liberated by zealous Syrian youth.
At the end of his remarks, in response to widespread criticism of the Islamic Republic for refraining from military support for Bashar Assad, he said: “We were prepared even in these difficult circumstances. They came to me here and said that we have prepared all the capabilities that Syrians need today and we are ready to go. The skies were closed, the ground was closed, the Zionist regime and America also closed Syria’s skies. They also closed the ground routes and it was not possible. That is how matters are.”
He also added, referring to the lack of motivation among the Syrian army: “If the motivations, as they stood within that country, could have remained and they could have had something to say against the enemy, the enemy would not have been able to close their skies, could not have closed the ground route. They could have been helped.”
