Arrest of 4 Suspects Accused of Sexual Assault on Teenage Girl in Tehran

Four men in Tehran have been arrested by law enforcement on charges of sexual assault and kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl.

According to Hrana news agency, citing Shahrvand, approximately one month ago, a middle-aged man went to the police awareness office in one of Khuzestan’s cities and reported the disappearance of his 17-year-old daughter.

There was no trace of the 17-year-old girl. Until a few days later, one of the girl’s friends went to her father and said that the 17-year-old had fled to Tehran.

Police officers searched for the girl in Tehran, but again there was no sign of her. Until finally, the missing girl contacted her father and said: “Father, I hope you will forgive me. I am very sorry. They have imprisoned me in a house. Please come and save me before I am tortured any more.”

Her father, who had become anxious, went to the police in fear and trembling and reported everything his daughter had told him. Since the teenage girl provided her father with the address of the house where she was being held, police officers also went to that location. The teenage girl was rescued and the house owner, who was a 23-year-old boy, was also arrested, but this boy claimed that he was innocent in this matter and that he was even the one who rescued the teenage girl.

According to this teenage girl: “Some time ago, my parents separated. I was living with my father, but for some time I had been in conflict with him. These problems and small disputes caused me to daydream. I thought if I went to Tehran, I could have a comfortable life. That’s why I went to Tehran, but when I got there, I was scared. I had nowhere to live. Then one day I met a boy in the park and he took me to his house.”

She continued: “After assaulting me, that boy took me and handed me over to a friend of his who was a shopkeeper. That boy also assaulted me. Then he put me in the care of another one of his friends. The third person also assaulted me. In the meantime, they took me to the house of one of their friends and asked a young man to imprison me there.”

She added: “I thought I could no longer return to a normal life. I saw all doors closing before me, but the house owner sympathized with my situation. I begged him so much that he finally agreed and gave me his mobile phone. I contacted my father and asked him to help me. Now I am very sorry and I ask my father to forgive me.”

By order of Judge Meysam Hosseinpour, the prosecutor of the eighth branch, investigations began to identify the other 3 suspects, and all three were identified and arrested.

During interrogations and in direct confrontation with the complainant, the suspects had no choice but to tell the truth; therefore, they confessed to the assault.

With the confessions of the suspects, they were transferred to detention. Investigation into charges of illegal imprisonment and threats by the suspects at the criminal prosecutor’s office is also underway, but another part of the case concerning the charge of “assault with violence” has been sent to the criminal court so that the suspects will soon face trial.
