At National Prayer Breakfast Ceremony; Trump Pledges to Protect Believers

President Donald Trump on Thursday pledged to always protect believers and praised their role in American life.

Trump addressed hundreds of attendees at the annual “National Prayer Breakfast” ceremony in Washington, saying: “As President, I have always valued and respected the faithful, and I will protect them. The faithful who have elevated our communities and kept our nation strong.”

This religious ceremony is held on the first Thursday of February and attended by senior officials.

The U.S. President told religious leaders, members of his cabinet, senior Republican and Democratic lawmakers including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose party members are conducting multiple investigations into Trump and his administration: “I will never let you down.”

Two days after requesting in his annual report to Congress the passage of legislation to end abortion in the final months of pregnancy, Trump said: “We must build a culture that honors and cherishes the sanctity of human life. All children, born and unborn, are made in the sacred image of the Creator. Every life is sacred in itself, and every soul is a precious gift from Heaven.”

The leader of the United States said: “When we let faith into our hearts, we fill our hearts with love.”

Trump concluded his brief speech with this prayer: “Let us pray for our nation’s future, for the courage to pursue justice and the wisdom to achieve peace. Let us pray for a future where every child has a warm, safe home filled with love. Let us unite for the good of our people, for strengthening our families, for the security of our citizens, for the realization of our deepest hopes and the achievement of our highest potential.”
