Bahman Cinema in Shiraz Engulfed in Flames

Bahman Cinema, one of the oldest cinemas in Shiraz, caught fire Thursday evening, June 30, due to an extensive blaze.

According to ISNA, the public relations of Shiraz Fire Department stated that following citizens’ calls to the fire department’s 125 hotline and reports of a major fire, the command headquarters of the fire department immediately dispatched firefighting vehicles from 10 stations to the scene of the incident.

The managing director of Shiraz Fire Department also told IRNA: rescue forces prevented the fire from spreading to houses neighboring the cinema, and as a result of these efforts, no citizens were harmed in this incident.

Bahman Cinema is located at the end of the old shopping complex of the same name on Karim Khan Zand Street.

It is reported that no films were being shown at this cinema and it had been closed for repairs for an extended period.

Meanwhile, reports about the removal of seats from this cinema last Monday drew criticism.

IRNA also notes that the issue of preventing the destruction of this cinema and converting it into a museum had been raised in Shiraz City Council in August 2017.
