Bodies of Two More Porters Found in Urmia Border Heights

On Monday, Bahman 6, hours after the discovery of three porters’ bodies, the remains of two other missing porters were found in the border areas of Urmia County. These porters had gone missing some time ago due to an avalanche.
According to Hrana news agency citing Kordpa, on Monday, Bahman 6, 1399, the bodies of two other missing porters were discovered in the border areas of Urmia County.
Hours before the discovery of these two porters’ bodies, the remains of three other missing porters were found under snow.
Based on this report, their identities have been stated as Yavar Aslani and Ferat Khoda’i.
The bodies of these porters, who went missing on Monday, Dey 29, 99, following an avalanche, were discovered after eight days through the efforts of local residents.
Smuggling is a false and arduous profession that people in border areas resort to due to lack of job opportunities, and every year dozens are killed or wounded when confronted with natural hazards or shot by border guards.
In a section of the annual report on the status of human rights in Iran; specifically for 2020, it addressed citizens who were killed or wounded by military organizations.
Beyond material damages, killing of pack animals and incidents including freezing and avalanches, the report documented the killing of 36 porters (border smugglers) and wounding of 109 of them by border and law enforcement forces.
It should be noted that 9 other porters were also affected by climatic and geographical conditions such as freezing and falling from heights, of which 4 porters were wounded and 5 porters lost their lives.
