Britain Concerned About Iran’s Role in Israel-Syria Military Confrontation
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, expressing concern over the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the military confrontation between Israel and Syria, said that Iran’s activities are diverting efforts to establish genuine peace that is underway.
According to Reuters news agency, Boris Johnson on Monday’s remarks asked Russia to use its influence on the Iranian regime to pressure Tehran to cease provocative actions and instead help in the direction of a comprehensive and broad political settlement process in tension reduction.
On Saturday, in one of the most serious confrontations between forces supported by Tehran in Syria with Israel, Syrian air defense targeted an Israeli F-16 fighter jet, which resulted in its downing in Israeli territory.
The aircraft, along with several other Israeli bombers, in response to the infiltration of an Iranian military drone into Israeli airspace, had targeted positions of Iran and Syria in Syrian territory.
