Domestic Violence: Woman Killed by Husband in Mashhad

On Friday, December 14, a woman in Mashhad was killed by her husband with knife wounds. After his arrest, the suspect cited family disputes as the cause of the incident.

According to a report by Hrana news agency, citing Hamshahri, on Friday, December 14, 1399, law enforcement officers informed the special judge for premeditated murder in Mashhad of a horrific crime that occurred on Shahid Charaghchi Street 9 in Mashhad.

Preliminary investigations showed that the crime occurred on the second floor of a three-story building, and the bloodied body of a 35-year-old woman was found under several blankets.

Neighbors and residents, who had heard the screams and cries of the young woman until early morning, told the judicial authorities that the victim had been in a fight with her husband and was trying to leave the house by any means, but her husband prevented her. We even tried to mediate and stop their quarreling and fighting, but the woman’s husband paid no attention. Even when police arrived at the scene following a call from residents, the husband claimed it was a family matter and that they would resolve their differences themselves.

Further field investigations by Judge Ahmadi-Nejad indicated that neighbors heard quarreling and the young woman’s screams until 5 a.m., but silence had then descended upon the couple’s home. This was while the victim’s eight-year-old son had stayed at his grandmother’s house that night, and only the three-year-old child was home when the crime occurred.

Although some evidence suggested the presence of the victim’s brother-in-law at the crime scene, extensive investigations by the criminal investigation police began to apprehend the victim’s fugitive husband. For this reason, a special team of detectives continued tracking operations and intelligence surveillance to identify the suspect’s hideout until they succeeded in arresting the fugitive murder suspect.

When this man, who claimed he was not in a normal state due to heavy drug use, was transferred, specialized interrogations began under the supervision of the special judge for premeditated murder at the criminal investigation police.

This suspect, who is approximately 40 years old, explicitly confessed to killing his wife and claimed that he had used crystal methamphetamine that night and was in a state of hallucination when he killed his wife with knife wounds due to previous disputes.
