Donald Trump Tells Iranian Protesters: ‘Keep Going, Help is on the Way’

Donald Trump, by releasing a message addressed to Iranian protesters, while encouraging them to continue, announced help that is on the way.

In recent days, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, by posting a message on the Truth social network, has asked Iranian protesters to continue their protests and, in an inflammatory manner, announced that help is on the way. In this message, which was published addressing Iranian patriots, he clearly wrote: “Continue the protest and seize your institutions” and emphasized that help is on the way.

In his continued message, Trump encouraged the protesters to document “killers and perpetrators of suppression” and warned that these individuals will pay a heavy price. He also announced that he has canceled all meetings and contacts with Iranian officials and will continue this decision until the senseless killing of protesters stops.

Trump’s message comes as nationwide protests in Iran have entered their seventeenth day and unconfirmed reports indicate severe suppression, high death tolls, and widespread internet outages. Some Western sources have even referred to estimated figures of over two thousand deaths during the protests, which, due to uncertain information conditions and internet censorship, has not yet been independently verified.

Analysts believe that recent protests in Iran are rooted in deep economic, political, and social problems, an issue that was previously reflected in the country’s economic unrest. These issues have included high inflation, the collapse of national currency value, and public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, a situation that protesters call “structural oppression.”

But is Donald Trump’s message support or an escalation of the crisis? Trump’s statements are controversial in several respects:

Support Without Details: Trump has promised that “help is on the way,” but has provided no clear explanation about the type of help, whether political, economic, or even military. This type of ambiguity has also been highlighted in international media, as the announced help is “without details” and it is unclear how it will be implemented; however, analysts believe that Trump’s lack of details may be because it should be unexpected and unpredictable for the authorities and suppression forces so they have no opportunity to respond.

Inciting Protesters Without a Practical Plan: While Trump calls on protesters to “seize institutions,” this request has been made without a clear strategic plan, an action that may escalate the situation and provide grounds for a more severe response from the Iranian government.

Impact on Diplomacy and Regional Tensions: The cancellation of meetings with Iranian officials that Trump announced shows an escalation of tensions and can push the diplomatic atmosphere toward further deadlock, especially at a time when Europe and other global actors have repeatedly called for reduced violence and respect for human rights in Iran.

Although verbal support may be popular among some segments of protesters, without a clear strategy, such messages can be considered dangerous and may leave protesters vulnerable to more severe suppression.

Other reports indicate complex discussions in Washington about different options for supporting protesters, from expanding internet access to military options, but no clear decision has been made yet.

Media and analysts have warned that “calling for the seizure of institutions” could provide a pretext for intensifying domestic suppression in Iran, an issue that not only harms the lives of protesters but could also deepen the crisis; unless Donald Trump has foreseen its consequences and then taken action.

Donald Trump’s recent message to Iranian protesters with inflammatory slogans and promises of “help on the way” has sparked widespread reactions in the media and among analysts. While these statements could be seen as a form of symbolic support, the lack of a practical plan and specific details has made this message (despite the excitement and enthusiasm) more like a fruitless political incitement than an effective strategy for resolving the current crisis.
