Dowlatābādi: In the Petrochemical Case, Six Billion Embezzlement is False; It was Corruption, not Embezzlement

The Tehran prosecutor said on Tuesday in clarifications regarding the corruption case in Iran’s petrochemical industry, with sharp criticism of some media outlets, that this case was “corruption, but not embezzlement.”
Abbas Jafari Dowlatābādi did not clearly explain the difference between these two in this case.
He also said: “The total amount of money that was withdrawn is 22 million euros and 15 million dollars.”
Earlier in the indictment presented in court, only a sum attributed to Marjan Sheikh al-Eslami of 16 million and 653 thousand dollars was announced with the charge of “participation in disrupting the economic system” and “illegally obtaining property.”
According to this judicial official, “The fact that newspapers headlined six billion dollars or euros embezzlement is false.”
