Eight Workers Trapped Following Fire and Tunnel Collapse in Iran

On Tuesday, the Mehr News Agency reported, citing the Public Relations of the National Emergency Organization, that a tunnel collapsed on the Tehran-North highway. Farsi News Agency identified the outbreak of a fire in the Alborz tunnel as the cause of the incident.
Following the collapse of the Tehran-North highway tunnel near Siahbishe, “eight people have been trapped inside the tunnel”.
After treating two of the injured at the scene, according to the Public Relations of the National Emergency Organization, “there is currently no information regarding the condition of the remaining people trapped inside the tunnel”.
In this regard, Farsi News Agency reported, citing the Deputy Minister of Roads: “Of the eight trapped workers, three workers have been extracted, but they have severe burns.”
Kheirollah Khademei said: “In this incident, three workers have been brought out who have severe burns. Additionally, five workers remain trapped inside the tunnel.”
