Execution of Three Prisoners Carried Out at Qazal Hesar Prison in Karaj

The death sentences of three prisoners were carried out early this morning at Qazal Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Early this morning, Wednesday, March 28, the death sentences of three prisoners were executed at Qazal Hesar Prison. Two of them had been sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of murder, and one prisoner had been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God).
The identities of the two individuals executed on murder charges have been confirmed as “Masib Azizi” from Arak and “Sajad Aqbali” from Kuhdasht, but the identity of the individual charged with moharebeh and sentenced to death remains unknown. Not only has the Judiciary’s media outlet failed to provide details of his case, but the execution of these three individuals has not been announced by prison officials and relevant authorities.
According to annual statistics from the Center for Statistics, Publishing and Works of the Human Rights Activists Collection in Iran, from January 1, 2024 to December 20, 2024, at least 930 prisoners, including 5 juvenile offenders, in Iranian prisons had death sentences that were carried out. This figure represents approximately a 24 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year, and among the issued sentences, the death sentences of 4 individuals were carried out publicly. To date, 214 others have also been sentenced to death; furthermore, in this same period, the first-instance sentences of 54 others have been confirmed by the Supreme Court.
It should be noted that many citizens have been sentenced to death and their sentences carried out for various reasons, including religious minorities and political figures, but their executions are not covered by the media at all, and even their bodies are not handed over to their families for burial and funeral ceremonies.
