An explosion at the Baghershahr industrial park in south Tehran on Tuesday morning resulted in two deaths.

The official IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday, citing the district chief of Kahrizak in Rey County, that the explosion killed “two people and injured three others.”

Amin Babaei stated: “Negligence by workers at the oxygen cylinder filling workshop at 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning killed two people and injured three others.”

According to Mr. Babaei, “the force of the oxygen cylinder explosion was so intense that it also caused damage to the walls of the adjacent Saipa Press factory.”

Baghershahr, with an area of 55 square kilometers and a population of approximately 59,000, is located 13 kilometers south of Rey County.

This area, described as “completely industrial,” was also the site of a fire in one of Tehran’s oil refinery units in 2017 that killed six people and injured four others.

This explosion occurs exactly one week after the Sina Athar Medical Center in Tehran caught fire on Tuesday of last week.
