Fire in Khahiz Protected Area Extinguished After Several Days

Reports indicate that the fire in the Khahiz protected area located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province has been extinguished after nearly a week. However, concerns remain about the possibility of the fire reigniting in this region.
Several journalists and environmental activists also reported on social media that the fire subsided in the latter half of last night.
In recent days, several forested areas in southwestern Iran have fallen victim to fire. Apart from the Khahiz area, the forests in the Dil region of Gachsaran County, forested areas in Andika, Karun, and Shush in Khuzestan Province have also been affected by fires.
During the firefighting operations in this region, according to the head of the Red Crescent Society of Behbahan, seven people, including a ranger and several residents of the area, were injured and transferred to hospitals for treatment.
According to experts, a serious lack of facilities, equipment, and forest fire extinguishing technology causes serious damage and significant losses to Iran’s natural capital every year.
