France and Germany Call on Iran to Return Immediately to Nuclear Negotiations

France and Germany have urged Iran’s swift return to nuclear negotiations.

According to Reuters news agency, France’s Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday, September 1st, that Jean-Yves Le Drian, France’s Foreign Minister, emphasized in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian the necessity of immediately resuming nuclear negotiations between Iran and world powers.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Foreign Ministry also called on the Islamic Republic of Iran on the same day to return as quickly as possible to the nuclear negotiation table, stating that time for resuming talks would not be unlimited.

Since 2018, following the United States’ withdrawal from the nuclear agreement known as the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” or JCPOA, Iran has resumed its nuclear activities, including uranium enrichment at levels higher than its commitments under the JCPOA framework.

Bloomberg previously reported that Iran’s new government might not resume negotiations to revive the Iranian nuclear agreement known as the JCPOA until November.
