Gholamreza Pahlavi, Brother of Iran’s Last Shah, Dies

Gholamreza Pahlavi, the younger brother of Mohammad Reza Shah, the last shah of Iran, died at the age of 94 in Paris.

Gholamreza Pahlavi was the third son of Reza Shah and was born from his marriage to Turan Amir Soleimani. Before the revolution, he served as head of the National Olympic Committee and participated in seven Olympics. He was also a member of the Regency Council.

He left Iran in 1357 during the height of the revolution and lived in near isolation. Gholamreza Pahlavi was married twice. He is survived by two daughters, two sons, and one grandchild.

Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah, announced in a Facebook message that his uncle’s death was due to illness and expressed condolences to his family.
