Golestan Province: Abuse of a Child with Disabilities by Parents / 289 Cases of Child Abuse Recorded Since the Beginning of the Year

The Social Deputy of Welfare in Golestan Province reported the abuse and mistreatment of a child with severe mental and physical disabilities by their parents. According to him, 289 cases of child abuse have been reported to emergency social centers in Golestan Province since the beginning of the year.

According to Hrana news agency, citing IRNA, the Social Deputy of Golestan Welfare reported a case of abuse and mistreatment of a child with severe mental and physical disabilities by their parents.

Maryam Massoumi stated in this regard: Following a report of child abuse by the headman of one of the villages in eastern Golestan through calling the 123 emergency line, social emergency personnel were dispatched to the location.

Massoumi continued: This child, who has severe mental and physical disabilities, was subjected to abuse by their parents, who are drug users.

The Social Deputy of Golestan Welfare stated: Social emergency personnel, in coordination with the prosecutor’s office, took action to obtain a court order for the child’s transfer, and ultimately the child was handed over to welfare centers for further measures.

Regarding the number of child abuse cases reported to social centers during the current year in Golestan Province, he also noted: Since the beginning of the year, 289 cases of child abuse have been reported to emergency social centers, and with the intervention of experts, this has led to the reduction or prevention of secondary harm to the child.
