Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers’ Strike Continues on Fourth Day

The labor protest of Haft Tappeh Agro-Industrial Complex workers continued on Sunday, August 28, entering its fourth day.
According to news sources in Iran, approximately 500 protesting workers have been on strike for the past four days in front of the complex’s management building in protest of non-payment of their claims.
Workers at the Haft Tappeh complex are owed several months of back wages and employee insurance contributions.
Employees of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company have faced the problem of delayed wages and other labor issues for years, and in recent years have repeatedly staged gatherings and strikes to protest the postponement of their demands.
After its privatization in 2015, Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company faced difficulties and has mostly paid workers’ wages with delay. According to ILNA news agency, in the recent protests, workers announced that they are owed at least three months of wages.
