Health Minister’s Letter to Khamenei: Health System is Collapsing

Saeed Namaki, Iran’s Minister of Health, sent a letter to Khamenei describing the dire state of the health and treatment system. He warned that Iran’s health system is exhausted and trapped, and the possibility of its collapse is very serious.

Iran’s Minister of Health sent a letter to Khamenei on Sunday, August 1st, outlining the extremely grave conditions facing Iran’s health system in dealing with the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

According to this letter, which was initially published by ISNA news agency and later removed from the outlet’s news feed, the health minister began the letter by stating that the latest meeting of the National Coronavirus Management Headquarters was held in the twelfth government.

He spoke of the “grave fifth wave” and the “breathless and exhausting days and nights” of the medical staff, asking: “In this isolated predicament, to which authority should we turn so that perhaps this non-stop disease-producing machine… could be stopped?”
