Hostage-Taking at Ilam Government Office Claims at Least Four Lives

Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday, May 18, of a deadly hostage-taking incident at a government office in Ilam.
According to the report, a former employee of the Asset and Property Organization belonging to the Foundation of the Oppressed took hostages at the organization’s premises.
In this incident that occurred in Ilam city in western Iran, which is reported to have now ended, at least four people were killed and several others were injured and wounded.
People present at the scene reported gunfire at the office building and the movement of ambulances to the hostage-taking location. The number of injured has been reported as five people.
It is stated that the hostage-taker was a former member of this organization who had been dismissed. An unconfirmed report suggests that the hostage-taker “committed suicide after opening fire.”
Security and special forces are present at the scene and are not allowing anyone to enter the area.
