Israel Accuses Three Iranians of Implementing Missile Project in Lebanon

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, on Thursday, September 28, accused Iran and Hezbollah of attempting to implement a missile production project in Lebanon and threatened that Israel would destroy this project.
Mr. Netanyahu stated at a press conference: “Today we have exposed the Iran and Hezbollah project for producing precision-guided missiles. We are aware of some other matters as well and are determined to eliminate this project.”
He added: “The purpose of making this public is to send the message that we will not sit idle while our enemies arm themselves with deadly weapons aimed at us. I am telling them today to be careful.”
On the same day, the Israeli military named three Iranians and one member of the Lebanese Hezbollah group as operatives behind the precision-guided missile production project in Lebanon and warned that such actions endanger Lebanon’s security.
Jonathan Conricus, spokesperson for the Israeli military, named the three Iranians at a Thursday press conference as Mohammad Hossein Zade Hajazi, Majid Nowab, and Ali Asghar Norouzi.
According to the Israeli military spokesperson, Mohammad Hajazi commands the Quds Force operations in Lebanon and is also responsible for the missile production program in the country.
General Conricus also identified Majid Nowab as the technology director of this project and stated that he is an engineer and specialist in ground-to-ground missiles.
According to the same report, Ali Asghar Norouzi is the logistics commander and responsible for transferring Iranian logistics equipment to Lebanon, playing a role in this project.
The Israeli military also identified Fuad Shukr, one of Hezbollah’s senior operational commanders, as one of the commanders of the aforementioned project.
Fuad Shukr is wanted by the United States on charges of participating in the 1983 attack on members of the U.S. Navy in Beirut.
Last year, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, stated in the United Nations General Assembly that the Islamic Republic has ordered Hezbollah in Lebanon to implement a project in hidden bases to convert their rockets into precision-guided missiles capable of targeting Israel.
The Israeli military spokesperson says that the implementation of this project has accelerated in recent months.
The naming of four individuals as officials overseeing the Islamic Republic’s missile plan in Lebanon comes as tensions on the borders between Israel and Lebanon have intensified in recent days.
