According to a report by Harana news agency, citing Hamshahri, a man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in Tehran.
Based on this report, on Monday evening, a 14-year-old girl got out of a Peugeot 405 vehicle behind traffic in the Meshirieh area and ran toward police patrol officers who were nearby. When she reached the officers, she was panicked and frightened. She pointed to the Peugeot with her hand and said: “The driver of this car abducted me and subjected me to abuse and harassment.”
Upon hearing this statement, the Meshirieh police station officers took action to arrest the suspect. However, the Peugeot driver fled as soon as he saw the officers, and a pursuit and chase operation began. He was unsuccessful in escaping and was arrested.
With the arrest of this man, the officers initially began questioning the teenage girl. She said: “We live near Shoosh Square. I left home to buy food from a restaurant. But on the way, the Peugeot driver blocked my path. He got out of the car and came toward me. He was holding a knife and threatened to kill me with it. He said if you scream, I will take your life, and then he forced me into his car with threats.”
The 14-year-old girl continued: “The Peugeot driver subjected me to abuse and harassment under threat and stole 100,000 tomans that I had with me. After that, he drove toward Meshirieh, and while stuck in traffic, I took the opportunity. When I saw the police patrol, I jumped out of the car and asked for help.”
However, the suspect claimed his innocence during questioning. He alleged that the teenage girl was lying and making up a story. He said: “I am a music composer and work in music video production. On the night of the incident, I was in the studio working on a music video. When I finished my work, I left the office and got into my car to go home. Near Meshirieh, I noticed a motorcyclist who was threatening a teenage girl and trying to forcibly take her with him on his motorcycle.”
The suspect continued: “Upon seeing this scene, I decided to help the teenage girl and rescue her from the motorcyclist. Fortunately, my effort succeeded and I rescued the teenage girl. After that, I put her in my car to take her home.”
The suspect added: “I don’t know what happened that suddenly the teenage girl threw herself out of the car when we were stuck in traffic and went to the police. I don’t know why she made up a story and said that I subjected her to abuse and harassment. If I ran away when I saw the police, it was only because I was scared. I don’t know why I reacted that way, but I am truly innocent, and when I saw the officers, without any intention, I decided to flee.”
The suspect was arrested by court order, and investigations into this case continue to clarify the facts of the matter.
