Man Killed on Honor Motive in Tehran

In June of this year, a man was killed on Afsar Street in Tehran on an honor motive by the family of a woman. In this case, two suspects who are the brother and husband of the aforementioned woman have been arrested, and their case has been sent to the criminal court of Tehran Province with the issuance of an indictment.
According to Hrana news agency citing RENA, in June of this year, the body of a young man was found on Afsar Street.
Based on this report, the man was killed by knife wounds and his throat was cut. The body was transferred to the forensic medicine office by court order. In subsequent investigations, it was determined that the body belonged to a 32-year-old man named Armin.
Forensic medicine experts, after examining the body, announced in a report that before Armin’s death, he was injected with narcotic substances multiple times and then killed by knife blows.
In the first step of the investigation, police reviewed the victim’s phone calls and found that he had met with a young woman named Shida on the same day.
The young woman was then traced and arrested, and she provided details of the murder. She claimed: “Several years ago, I married my husband who is a police officer, and now I have a four-year-old daughter. Some time ago, I got into a Peugeot car with my daughter as a passenger to go out, but the driver deceived me and harassed me with poisoned fruit juice and took photos and videos of me. But I remained silent out of fear and didn’t tell my husband until a few days later my brother Shahin came to our house. He noticed that my emotional state was disturbed and I was crying. When he asked me what happened, I told him that a driver named Saeed harassed me, took photos and videos of me, and kept contacting me to extort money from me.”
The woman continued: “My brother said not to tell my husband about this so he could find Saeed himself and discipline him, and a few days later my husband also found out about it. My brother investigated and found out that Saeed was an addict. For this reason, my husband and brother decided to meet with Saeed and inject him with so much narcotic substance that he would die and the secret of his death would not be revealed.
The woman added: “The last time Saeed called me, he asked me for 10 million tomans. He said if I gave him the money, he would return the photos and videos to me. So I went to the meeting place. My brother and my husband also came there, and when Saeed got into the car, they trapped him and injected him with narcotic substances several times. It was around Afsar Street when my brother took Saeed out of the car. When he returned a few minutes later, he said he had stabbed him in the face and cut off his head.”
Following the woman’s statements, her brother and her husband named Ramin were arrested and confessed to murder on an honor motive. However, each blamed the other for the killing. While Shida had identified her husband as the perpetrator in subsequent interrogations, she wrote a letter saying she intended to tell the truth.
The woman said: Because my husband was a police officer, the investigative officer in my case told me that if I retract my previous statements about Saeed’s assault and the taking of photos and videos and confess to the murder myself, it would gain the consent of the blood relatives. For this reason, in subsequent interrogations, I said my husband killed Saeed. But I retracted my statement again. I am telling the truth now. My brother committed the murder.
With the woman’s new statements, an indictment was issued against Shahin for murder and kidnapping and against Ramin for kidnapping and complicity in murder, and their case was sent to the criminal court of Tehran Province.
Meanwhile, Ramin requested to be released on bail until the court date, but the judges of Branch 5 of the criminal court of Tehran Province, after reviewing the case, rejected this request and announced that this murder on an honor motive occurred and both suspects must remain in prison until trial.
Accordingly, it was decided that the police officer, his wife, and her brother would soon defend themselves in court. This is while the blood relatives have requested retribution.
