Mine Explosion: Porter Injured, Loses Foot and Eye

Hrana News Agency – A porter from Sardasht district who last week suffered amputation of his right foot following a mine explosion from the Iran-Iraq War at the “Hangezhal” border near Baneh, has now also lost his left eye due to the severity of his injuries.
According to Hrana News Agency, citing Kurdpa, Fouad Mahdi Ibrahimian, a porter from Sardasht district, has also lost his left eye.
An informed source stated in this regard: This porter’s left eye underwent surgery at Nikokari Hospital in Tabriz, and due to the severity of injuries caused by the mine explosion, he lost sight in his left eye.
On Monday, March 23, Mr. Ibrahimian, 24, along with two other porters at the “Hangezhal” border near Baneh, was severely wounded in the foot following the explosion of a mine left over from the Iran-Iraq War and was initially transferred to Saladin Ayyubi Hospital in Baneh for treatment.
After being transferred to Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz, he underwent surgery and lost his right foot.
Mines left over from the war years cause deaths and injuries to numerous citizens in border areas annually.
