Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi and Payam Shakiba Transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj

Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi and Payam Shakiba, political prisoners, were transferred from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj at the beginning of the current week. On the 1st of Mordad this year, along with Majid Asadi, these individuals were transferred from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj to the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility at Evin Prison for interrogation regarding a new case opened against them during their detention. They were ultimately transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison in late Shahrivar of this year following the completion of interrogations.

According to Hrana news agency, the news organ of the Iranian human rights activists collective, Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi and Payam Shakiba, political prisoners, were transferred from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj at the beginning of the current week.

While Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi and Payam Shakiba, along with Majid Asadi, were serving their sentences in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, on the 1st of Mordad this year they were transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, for interrogation regarding a new case opened against them during their imprisonment. They were ultimately transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison in late Shahrivar of this year following the conclusion of interrogations.

The court hearing regarding the charges against these citizens concerning this case was held on the 28th of Mehr this year in the presence of their defense lawyers at Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.

Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi was arrested in his home by security forces on the 30th of Bahman 1395. In Azar 96, he was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Masallah Ahmadzadeh, to 11 years of imprisonment and 2 years of exile to Nikshahr city in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on charges of “action against national security through support for the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization, assembly and conspiracy, and propaganda against the system.” This verdict was confirmed exactly in the appeal phase in Tir 97. Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the more severe penalty of 5 years of imprisonment is applicable in his case.

Payam Shakiba was arrested by security forces on the 4th of Esfand 1395 after leaving his home. In Azar 96, he was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Ahmadzadeh, to 11 years of imprisonment on charges including “action against national security through assembly and conspiracy and propaganda against the system.” A verdict that was ultimately confirmed identically in the appellate court. With the application of Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 5 years of this sentence is executable.

These individuals were previously transferred from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj in Khordad 96.
