Najma Vahedi, Women’s Rights Activist, Arrested

Reports indicate that Najma Vahedi, a women’s rights activist, has been arrested.
According to news published on Saturday, Shahrivar 10, by journalists and civil activists on social media, Najma Vahedi was arrested simultaneously with Hadi Omid, a lawyer and women’s rights activist.
These two conducted workshops teaching young women about prenuptial conditions.

On Saturday, reports also emerged of the arrest of Payam Darfshan and Farrokh Foruzan, both lawyers, by officers of the Ministry of Intelligence.
The arrest and suppression of civil activists, students, and protesting citizens by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic has been repeatedly condemned in recent months by international human rights organizations and the U.S. State Department.
