Nationwide Student Protests in Iran and Arrest of Student on Eve of December 7

A gathering of students at Amirkabir University (Polytechnic) in Tehran in support of workers, teachers, and detained students turned into a confrontation with Basij forces.
Students at Amirkabir University in Tehran held a protest on Tuesday, December 4, in support of recent gatherings by workers and teachers, demanding the release of detained workers, teachers, and students. According to student sources, these gatherings led to clashes with Basij forces.
The protests were held following a pre-announced call by students in the Amirkabir University campus, and students, with their hands linked together, carried handwritten placards that read: “Tanks, bullets, and machine guns no longer work,” “Worker, student, unity, unity,” “Worker, student, teacher, prisoners must be freed,” and “Victory from God and a near conquest; death to this deceptive government.”
According to images circulated on social media, Basij forces at Amirkabir University engaged in confrontation and chanted slogans including “Hypocrite, seditious, cursed be your connection;” however, students did not cease their demonstrations and continued their chants about the freedom of political students, workers, and teachers.
Other images on social networks show reports of similar gatherings on the eve of December 7, Student Day, at other universities across the country, including Anoushiravan University of Babol and Sahand University in Tabriz. These students have gone on a hunger strike.
