New Round of Haft Tappeh Sugar Factory Workers’ Strike Continues for Tenth Day

The strike by workers at the Haft Tappeh sugar industry in Khuzestan province continued for the tenth day on Thursday, October 6, in front of the governor’s office in Shush.

According to a report from the Telegram channel of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Factory Workers’ Syndicate, the strikers are demanding payment of overdue wages, immediate determination of the company management’s fate, reinstatement of dismissed colleagues, contract renewal for seasonal workers and the pest control department, and an end to legal proceedings against Haft Tappeh workers’ lawyer.

In previous days, the strike by Haft Tappeh sugar factory workers was also accompanied by large-scale demonstrations in the city.

Previously, following the filing of a case against Farzaneh Zilaabi, the lawyer representing Haft Tappeh workers, and the holding of a court hearing for her, seven labor unions and professional associations issued a statement condemning the judicial prosecution of this lawyer.

Ms. Zilaabi had previously represented several labor activists including Esmail Bakhshi, Ali Nejati, and other Haft Tappeh workers, and following these representations, she faced legal proceedings.
