Number of Injured in Firuzabad Factory Explosion Reaches 133

The total number of injured in the explosion at the sodium carbonate factory in Firuzabad, Fars Province, has been reported as 133 people. The commander of the northern highway police of Fars Province also stated that the Jam-Firuzabad-Shiraz highway, which had been closed due to this incident, has been reopened.

The number of injured in the explosion at the sodium carbonate factory located in Firuzabad, Fars Province, has reached 133.

The head of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences announced this news to ISNA news agency, stating that 114 of the injured have been discharged.

According to him, this incident resulted in no fatalities, and the injured mostly suffered respiratory injuries.

The commander of the northern highway police of Fars Province also told ISNA that the Firuzabad-Jam highway, which had been closed due to the sodium carbonate factory explosion and ammonia gas spread in the factory area, has been reopened. According to him, normal traffic has been restored on this route since 11 p.m. on Monday (June 13).

On Monday night, following a “leak in one of the ammonia tanks,” a major explosion occurred at the sodium carbonate factory in Firuzabad.

The sodium carbonate factory in Firuzabad, Fars Province, is located at kilometer 35 of the Firuzabad to Asaluyeh road and was inaugurated in August 2020. This factory operates in the production of sodium carbonate with an annual capacity of 320 thousand tons.
