Parents of Babak Khormddin Confess to Two Additional Murders

The head of Tehran’s criminal prosecution office says the parents of Babak Khormddin, the murdered filmmaker, have confessed in their latest statements to also killing their daughter and son-in-law.
Mohammad Shahryari, head of Tehran’s criminal prosecution office, told the ILNA news agency that Khormddin’s parents stated in their confession that they killed the family’s son-in-law in 2011 and their daughter in 2018 using the same method—dismembering the body and disposing of it in a garbage bin.
According to the judge, the two individuals explained their motive for these murders, saying “the children were addicts and used drugs.” Shahryari stated that “investigations in this area are ongoing, of course.”
Mohammad Shahryari, noting that a missing person report had been filed regarding the family’s son-in-law in 2011, emphasized: “The psychiatrist has said that the killers are mentally sound.”
On Sunday, Ordibehesht 26 (April 15, 2024), the dismembered remains of Babak Khormddin, an Iranian film director, were discovered in a garbage bin in Ekbatan neighborhood in Tehran. Hours later, Babak Khormddin’s parents confessed in the criminal prosecution office that they had murdered him and abandoned his dismembered body at three locations in Tehran.
Babak Khormddin’s father is detained on charges of committing murder, and his mother is detained on charges of complicity in murder.
