Prince Reza Pahlavi: Privatization of Public Assets Under the Name of Productivity

Prince Reza Pahlavi wrote on his Twitter page about the privatization of public assets under the name of productivity.

Following the proposal of the heads of the three branches of government and Ali Khamenei’s approval for the formation of a seven-member committee to sell government assets, properties, and wealth in order to secure the government’s budget in the shortest time, many reactions were observed in the media and social networks to this government action.

Also, after “Nasim Online” reported on a plan that it described as strange and confidential, Gharbanzadeh, the head of the Privatization Organization, was forced to explain, and the plan for selling surplus government assets came out of secrecy. The same plan proposed by Ali Khamenei that he himself had approved but never made it to parliament.

In reports and news agencies, it was announced that the sale of surplus government assets actually means the sale of national assets in the hands of the government. Assets that Rouhani’s Minister of Economy estimated in 2015 at 1,200 quadrillion tomans.

Now the plundering of this national treasure, including land, properties, and assets, with the signature of the Second Supreme Leader, is in the hands of 7 government representatives who are immune from legal prosecution. This plundering is separate from the 108 billion that the government has budgeted from the sale of surplus assets. It should be noted that this plan could turn into the largest national theft in Iran’s history.

This plan not only provoked the reaction of the majority of people inside and outside Iran, but first Farah Pahlavi expressed her concern about the sale of royal jewels (which “Ali Jahrmei,” the government spokesman, had previously attributed the theft of to the Pahlavi family), and then Prince Pahlavi also reacted on his Twitter page.

He wrote on his Twitter page: “Privatization of public assets under the name of productivity, privatizing and gifting national wealth to dependents and state-private entities, is the result of Khamenei’s insatiable thirst for plundering Iran. The plunderers should know that judicial immunity will not serve them, and the assets plundered from the Iranian nation must be returned to the national treasury.”
