Officers warned people at the beginning of the march not to move forward, but images showed that protesters were ignoring police warnings.
Some protesters also carried placards that read “Bazaar with dignity, support, support.” Like protests in recent months, protesters also chanted “Reza Shah, may your spirit rest in peace” in praise of Reza Shah Pahlavi.
In recent days, the value of each US dollar reached around 12,000 tomans in the informal market. Rouhani administration’s efforts to contain the value of the dollar have failed.
This comes as in a few more days, the first round of Iran’s nuclear sanctions imposed by President Trump will be reinstated, targeting Iran’s oil and gas market.
