“Reza Diako”: Season Six of “The Chosen” Carries a Special Emotional and Spiritual Weight

“Reza Diako,” an Iranian actor in the series “The Chosen,” announced the special emotional and spiritual weight present in the sixth season of this series.

The series “The Chosen” is a Christian historical drama television series created by “Dallas Jenkins.” This series, which comprises several seasons, is about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, set in Judea and Galilee in the first century AD, and focuses on Jesus and various figures who knew Jesus and then followed him.

“Jonathan Roumie” plays the role of Jesus in this series. The series narrates the period of Jesus Christ’s life and mission based on the Gospels. The budget for this series, whose production began in 2017, was funded through crowdfunding, and according to the creators’ statements, viewers of this series have paid approximately one hundred million dollars toward production costs over the course of four seasons. In addition to its dedicated application, this series is broadcast through Netflix and Amazon.

“Reza Diako,” an Iranian actor who plays the role of Philip in this series, joined the cast from the fourth season. In an interview with “Christian Post,” he speaks about the new season of this series, which depicts a different and profound experience of the life of Jesus Christ and his disciples, completely different from what has been shown so far.

Regarding the sixth season of this series, he says: “This season, as it delves deeper into the final days of Jesus’ life, carries a special emotional and spiritual weight that stems from years of character development. This season is like losing a member of the family.”

Philip, who plays a key role in uniting the disciples in this series, also possesses a spiritual and unique character. Reza Diako speaks about his personal experience and living in different countries: “Before acting, I studied psychology and have experience in the field of mental health and medicine, which has greatly helped me develop a deeper portrayal of Philip’s character and has allowed me to empathize with Philip’s traveling spirituality.”

Diako added on this matter: “Philip plays a mediating role and tries to manage tensions among the disciples so that everyone focuses on following Jesus.” He considers the most impactful moment of filming the fifth season to be the Last Supper scene, in which Jesus speaks of his imminent death and the disciples who are hesitant in accepting it.

He also cited “realism” as the main reason for the popularity of this series and stated that the series has managed to attract many audiences from different cultures and beliefs. He also said at the end of his interview: “I hope the new season, despite the tensions and deep emotions, presents a message of hope and a fresh perspective on the life of Christ, and this work continues to connect with people on its path of growth and expansion.”

The sixth season of this series, titled “The Chosen at the Last Supper,” has been produced in 8 episodes, which will be broadcast in three parts over three weeks. The first two episodes will be released on June 15, the next three episodes on June 22, and the final three episodes on June 29 on Amazon Prime Video.
