Russia’s “Spy Ring” Discovered at Ukrainian Army Command Headquarters

Kiev officials say they have discovered and neutralized a Moscow “spy ring.” Apparently, this group had intended to attack a civilian passenger aircraft.

Ukrainian security officials said they have discovered and neutralized a Russian “spy ring.” According to Oleksiy Arestovych, an advisor to the Ukrainian president, one of the spies was stationed at the headquarters of the Ukrainian armed forces.

He provided no explanation regarding the number of members in this ring, but spoke about one of their objectives: “These individuals intended to shoot down a civilian passenger aircraft over Russia or Belarus and hold Ukraine responsible for it.”

It was reported that Ukrainian air defense missiles were to be used for this operation.

Continued Attacks on Mariupol Steel Plant

Following the evacuation of a group of civilians from the besieged Mariupol steel plant, Russian army attacks on the facility continue.

According to Denys Shlega, commander of the Ukrainian National Guard, as soon as the civilian evacuation operation from Azovstal ended, Russian attacks on the plant resumed. According to this military official, at least one more evacuation operation is necessary to get everyone who has taken shelter in the plant out of it.

The United Nations announced on Sunday, May 1st, that the evacuation operation of civilians from the Mariupol steel plant was underway. Vladimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, also confirmed the evacuation of 100 civilians from the plant.
