Senior IRGC Commanders Express Concern About System’s Collapse From Within

Senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have expressed concern about the potential collapse of the system from within.

In recent months, during nationwide protests that began in September 2022 with the death of Mahsa Amini, a number of government forces, including the military, IRGC, and Basij forces, have stepped down from their positions and joined the people. Every day, the number of individuals who held positions within the system and came to the streets to suppress the people, but are now standing alongside them, continues to grow.

Now, documents from a confidential meeting of senior IRGC commanders and security officials with Ali Khamenei held on December 4, have reached “Iran International,” in which IRGC commanders expressed concern about the possibility of the system’s collapse from within.

“Mojtaba Pooremsan,” an investigative journalist and political activist, has also prepared and published a report on this matter. Pooremsan states in this report: “An unprecedented collapse within the IRGC’s ranks and the exposure of plans by this force to conduct an artillery strike on Ali Khamenei’s residence have shaken the system’s foundation. Six months after the beginning of the Iranian people’s uprising against the Islamic Republic, a secret document confirmed previous reports about the collapse of forces within the system. On December 4, coinciding with the anniversary of Qasem Soleimani’s death, 58 senior IRGC commanders and high-ranking security officials discussed the collapse of forces within and the danger of internal collapse of the Islamic Republic in the presence of Ali Khamenei. According to a confidential letter obtained by Iran International, Islamic IRGC commanders consider popular protests uncontrollable and say that the process of ideological collapse within the IRGC is accelerating.”

In this meeting, “Mahmoud Mohammadi Shahrudi,” commander of the Basij organization, stated: A large number of clergy have removed their religious garments in protest of the suppression of the people, some Basij forces have developed ideological problems and have refrained from participating in the Basij.

Also, in a leaked audio file from the meeting, “Qassem Qoreishi,” deputy commander of the Basij organization, discussed with managers of security sectors of government media outlets the danger of collapse within law enforcement forces.

Now, IRGC commanders are one after another telling Ali Khamenei that widespread collapse has begun within the system. “Mohsen Karimi,” commander of the Ruhollah Sepah of Markazi Province, directly announced that many military forces have moved away from the Islamic Republic and are preparing themselves for an alternative system.

“Gholamali Rashid,” commander of the Khatam al-Anbia headquarters, also said in this meeting: A group of IRGC forces that collapsed, with disobedience to orders, wanted to target the leadership’s residence of the Islamic Republic in the heart of Tehran with artillery fire.

“Abdullah Haji Sadeghi,” Khamenei’s representative in the IRGC, also provided shocking statistics about the collapse of 12 to 68 percent of system forces.

Colonel “Abbas Banai Khirabadi,” head of the Sepah Fajr Fars employee services center, also announced before Khamenei: A number of wireless forces have joined the people and during the protests, they reported routes incorrectly and in defense of themselves announced that they would not engage with the people. Even when faced with their own arrest, they had a satisfied smile on their faces.

“Mohammad Abdollahpour,” commander of the Quds Sepah of Gilan, also stated that the system lacks the ability to confront the protesting people and push them back, and according to him, perhaps only a miracle could reduce the people’s strength.

People who in their revolutionary uprising against the Islamic Republic have pushed the boundaries of courage to such an extent that, according to the intelligence minister, they have rendered all the system’s classical suppression programs ineffective.”

A complete 6-minute report of these classified documents can be viewed below.

According to the disclosure of these confidential documents and Mojtaba Pooremsan’s reports, now Ali Khamenei is isolated and has no choice but to retreat.

If these protests continue with their current momentum, without the support of parliaments and opposition leaders, we will soon witness a free Iran.
