“Serkis Davdian”: Christians in Iran Enjoy Social Freedoms

“Serkis Davdian”, Bishop of the Armenian Catholics, spoke about Christians’ enjoyment of social freedom in Iran.

Serkis Davdian, Bishop of the Armenian Catholics of Iran, met with the governor of Mazandaran in Nur city on the eve of the New Year. In this meeting, while referring to the freedom of Christians in Iran, he said: “We are living freely in Iran, and we should be grateful to the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran for this blessing. In the light of the blessings of the Islamic Revolution leader of Iran, Armenians are living in peace and enjoying social and religious freedoms. Religious minorities in Isfahan and other cities are also living freely.”

He stated that for eight years he has been serving by appointment of Pope Francis as Bishop of the Armenian Catholics in Iran and holds fond memories of Iran.

The Armenian Bishop, while thanking Ali Khamenei for the freedom of Christians, condemned the Israeli regime’s attacks on Gaza and the war that caused thousands of deaths, and added: “I myself am from Aleppo, Syria. We Armenians and others condemn the devilish policies of great powers.”

He also spoke about Islam, saying: “Islam is also a religion of peace and tranquility, and this important fact has been stated by the Prophet of Islam and their heavenly book. Armenians in Iran enjoy all social and religious freedoms. Iran, for the establishment of peace and tranquility, offered its best beloved ones such as Commander Hajj Qasem Soleimani and the recent martyr Seyyed Razi Mousavi.”

Serkis Davdian concluded his remarks by praying for peace and tranquility in the world.
