Suicide of Two Boys, Ages 12 and 17, in Tehran and Abadan

On Saturday, the 22nd of Azar, a 12-year-old boy in Tehran committed suicide by shooting himself in the head and died. On the same day, a 17-year-old teenager in Abadan ended his life by hanging himself. According to the Legal Medicine Organization, the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides has been reported at over 7 percent.

According to Hrana news agency, citing Hamshahri, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, the 22nd of Azar, the suspicious death of a 12-year-old boy in the Saadat Abad district was reported to Tehran’s on-duty homicide prosecutor.

Following the report, an investigation began and preliminary examinations revealed that the student boy had ended his life by shooting himself in the head with a waist pistol. The criminal team then went to the scene and began investigations to determine the cause of death. Initial investigations showed that the boy’s parents had separated some time ago and he was living with his father, who is a physician.

According to the report, at the time of the incident, the boy’s grandmother was at home, but while she was in the living room, her grandson went to his room and moments later the sound of a gunshot was heard. The grandmother went to the boy’s room and found his body. Before his death, the teenager had turned on a video camera and stated his motives for this death in front of the camera. He said he was tired of life and could no longer continue living. He even left a handwritten note with this content. At the end of this 12-minute video, the boy picked up the waist pistol and shot himself in the head.

During further investigations, the father claimed that he did not have a weapon in the house and it is unclear where the teenager obtained the gun. On the other hand, the waist pistol contained only one bullet, and he ended his life by firing the only shot that was in the weapon.

According to Rokna news agency, a 17-year-old boy in the village of Abushanek in Abadan committed suicide by hanging himself.
