Hrana News Agency – On Thursday, the 24th of Shahrivar, two citizens were killed and wounded as a result of the explosion of an unexploded shell left over from the Iran-Iraq War in West Gilan.
According to Hrana News Agency citing Farsi news, on Thursday, the 24th of Shahrivar 1401, the governor of West Gilan announced the wounding and death of two citizens as a result of the explosion of an unexploded shell left over from the Iran-Iraq War in this county.
Vahid Mohammadi regarding this incident stated: “The explosion of a defective shell from the time of the war resulted in the death of a 32-year-old young man and the injury of his mother, a 65-year-old woman.”
He added: “The injured person has been transferred to medical centers for treatment.”
War weapons and mines left over from the war period cause the death and injury of numerous citizens in border areas every year.
It should be noted that every year many citizens die or lose limbs as a result of explosions of weapons left over from the war period.
