Ayatollah Khomeini's family files complaint against Hossein Dehbashi

The house of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, filed a legal complaint against Hossein Dehbashi, a historical researcher and documentary filmmaker, over one of his tweets.

In a tweet that he deleted hours later, Mr. Dehbashi posted the famous image of Ayatollah Khomeini's arrival in Iran on an Air France flight, in which a number of revolutionaries accompany Mr. Khomeini as he descends the stairs of the plane.

Hossein Dehbashi had mentioned the fate of these revolutionaries, including Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, who was later executed in the Islamic Republic. He also wrote about the image of Ahmad Khomeini, the son of Ayatollah Khomeini, that his death was due to "excessive spending."

According to a report by the Iranian Students News Agency, ISNA, the Ayatollah Khomeini's house has accused Mr. Dehbashi of making "unfair" attributions to Ahmad Khomeini.

The Jamaran website, which belongs to the "Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works", also harshly accused Mr. Dehbashi of "lies and fraud" and said that he was suffering from "suffering and deprivation" due to "neglect".

The sudden death of Ahmad Khomeini, the second son of Ayatollah Khomeini, at the age of 49 had been the source of many rumors. He died in the last days of Esfand 1373. Official reports stated that the cause of his death was a sudden cardiac and respiratory complication in his sleep, followed by a stroke.

Mr. Khomeini was the closest person to his father during his leadership of the Islamic Republic, and many hold him responsible for some of Ayatollah Khomeini's important decisions and policies. Ayatollah Montazeri, the deposed deputy to the Islamic Republic's leader, had accused Ahmad Khomeini of having a role in the mass executions of political prisoners in 1988.
