30% of Iranian Youth Neither Work Nor Study

The Statistical Center and Strategic Information of the Ministry of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare released the results of the NEET indicator assessment.

 

The NEET index, which represents the share of unemployed youth aged 15 to 24 who are neither in education nor engaged in skills acquisition, stated in its latest report that youth in the age group of 15 to 24 years during the years 2014 to 2018 comprised approximately 30 percent who were not employed and were neither studying nor acquiring skills.

Accordingly, the aforementioned rate was approximately 31.6 percent in 2014, and it can be said that the share of unemployed women who are in education and skills training is greater than the overall share and the share of men.
