“Alireza Beheshtishirazi” Political Activist Detained

“Seyyed Alireza Beheshtishirazi,” a cultural and political activist, was detained at his residence last night (Tuesday) on the 5th of Ordibehesht.

Alireza Beheshtishirazi is an Iranian political activist and journalist, and was also the editor-in-chief of the “Green Word” newspaper. He was one of the closest advisors to “Mir Hossein Mousavi” and was detained following the 2009 presidential election, spending an extended period in prison. In recent years, he has been engaged in translating and publishing important political and economic works and had not engaged in any overt political activities.

Alireza Beheshtishirazi was among the speakers at the “Dialogue Forum for Iran’s Salvation” on the evening of Saturday, the 2nd of Ordibehesht on Clubhouse, where he said in his speech: “After last year’s events, the window of reform has completely closed, and despite the seemingly calm current situation, change is inevitable and we must prepare ourselves for it.”

Three days after his speech (on Tuesday evening), security forces went to his residence and proceeded to detain him. It should be noted that no information is yet available regarding the reason for his detention, the charges against him, and his place of detention.
