Amnesty International: Haidar Qorbani in Danger of Execution; Appeal to Ayatollah Khamenei to Overturn Death Sentence

Amnesty International states that Haidar Qorbani, an Iranian Kurdish prisoner, faces the danger of execution. According to the organization, “confessions” were extracted from him under torture and have been used against him to issue the death sentence.
The organization has called on Iranian authorities to halt any plans to execute him.
Amnesty International has urged Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to “immediately” overturn his death sentence and grant him the opportunity of a fair trial.
Previously, Voice of America reported, citing Iran’s Human Rights Organization, that the Supreme Court rejected the request for retrial of Haidar Qorbani, a political prisoner sentenced to death in Sanandaj Central Prison. According to that report, Qorbani’s case has been sent to the Enforcement of Sentences division.
