An Earthquake with a Magnitude of 5.7 Shakes Khuzestan and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari

Following four earthquakes between the cities of Qaleh Khajeh in Khuzestan and Chelgard in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, more than 20 villages in the region were damaged.

Khosrow Kiani, the Director General of Crisis Management of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, told ILNA news agency: “Given that the area is nomadic and rural with dispersed villages, a population of approximately 10,000 people in 35 villages were affected by the earthquake.”

According to reports, some vehicles, houses, and buildings under construction in Kohrang were also damaged, and more than 8 people were injured in this county. No human casualties have been reported so far.

The Director General of Crisis Management in Khuzestan announced the full alert of all governorate offices, rescue forces, and operational units throughout Khuzestan following this earthquake.
