Behbahan Protests: Court Date and Branch Set for Hearing Charges Against Four Citizens

Hrana News Agency – The court hearing into charges against Mohammad Fatemi, Amin Salehizadeh, Mohammad Nazarian Tombi, and Sajad Tayebi will be held on December 4th at Branch 103 of Criminal Court 2 in Behbahan. These citizens were arrested by security forces during July protests in Behbahan last year, alongside other protesters, in protest against “the country’s dire economic situation” and “execution sentences issued in response to public protests in 2019.”

According to Hrana News Agency, the news outlet of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, the date and branch for the court hearing into charges against Mohammad Fatemi, Amin Salehizadeh, Mohammad Nazarian Tombi, and Sajad Tayebi, citizens from Behbahan, have been determined.

The court hearing into charges against these citizens will be held on December 4, 2021, at Branch 103 of Criminal Court 2 in Behbahan.

Mohammad Fatemi, Amin Salehizadeh, and Mohammad Nazarian Tombi were previously summoned in November 2020 to Branch 3 of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office Investigation in Behbahan, headed by Judge Kazem Tayeb, on charges of “insulting the leadership, participating in disruption of public order and security, undermining domestic and foreign security, and conspiracy to commit crimes against domestic and foreign security.”

These citizens were previously arrested in connection with Behbahan public protests. Mohammad Nazarian is reportedly subjected to beatings and physical torture by officials from the Information Office during interrogations.

Amin Salehizadeh is 21 years old, has completed fifth grade of primary school, and is unemployed.

On July 26th of last year, people in Behbahan gathered at the National Bank square of the city to protest against “the country’s dire economic situation” and “execution sentences issued in response to last year’s public protests.” Many protesting citizens were arrested during the gathering, while several others were arrested at their homes after the protests ended. Hrana previously reported through several reports, while verifying the identities of some of those arrested, about the detention of dozens of citizens in connection with these protests.

During the November 2019 protests in Behbahan, several residents of the city, including Mehrdad Dashtinia, Mahmoud Dashtinia, Farzad Ansari Far, Mohammad Hossein Ghannati, Ehsan Abdollahnejad, and Mohammad Hashemdar, were killed by gunfire from security forces. Hrana also reported on November 1st of last year about the sentencing of 109 years imprisonment and 2,590 lashes for 36 of those arrested during the November Behbahan protests by Branch 102 of Criminal Court 2 in Behbahan.
