Britain’s Positive Vote on Designating IRGC as Terrorist Organization

According to reports released during a session of the British House of Commons, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is set to be formally designated as a terrorist group by the British government.
News that had circulated on social media several days ago was a public request to place #IRGCterrorist as a hashtag in order to pressure governments to designate the IRGC on the terrorist list. The hashtag count has now exceeded 4.5 million.
In recent weeks, the German government also raised the issue of placing the IRGC on the list of terrorist organizations, and France did not reject the proposal. Now Britain has also decided to place the IRGC on its terrorist list.
According to the Telegraph newspaper: “Tom Tugendhat, Security Minister, and Suella Braverman, Home Secretary of Britain, both support this measure, and it is expected that within the coming weeks, this news will be officially announced.”
The Telegraph writer also believes that Britain’s action to place the IRGC on the terrorist list is an important political hardline stance that could halt nuclear negotiations with Iran.
A group of Iranians has also initiated an online petition for the closure of Islamic centers in Britain that are affiliated with the Islamic Republic in London. According to Iran International, nearly 20,000 people have signed the petition so far.
Members of the British Parliament have also called on the government to cooperate with its international partners in implementing sanctions against those involved in the suppression, killing, and execution of protesters in Iran.
