Campaign to Withdraw Money from Banks for Legitimate Defense

Iranians have joined a campaign to withdraw money from banks in legitimate defense against the Islamic Republic regime.

Three months after nationwide protests and the suppression of people by the Islamic Republic government’s security forces, Iranians have taken an interesting initiative and decided to launch a bank withdrawal campaign in order to deliver a heavy blow to the government’s economy.

In reports published on virtual pages including Twitter and Instagram, Iranians announced through sharing news of their bank withdrawals: let us from now on make all purchases in cash and not use bank cards. With every bank transfer and purchase, we must pay tax or fees to the government, but making purchases and transferring money in cash can deliver a heavy blow in large volumes across the entire country to the government.

Azizi published a post on his Instagram page saying: “My brother is the head of Bank Melli at one of the distinguished branches in Tehran. When I spoke with him today, he said that by the 15th of Dey month, people’s money in all banks across the country will be blocked. My brother said that the head of the Central Bank also resigned yesterday, but with force and security forces’ beating, he withdrew his resignation. He announced that due to the rush of people to banks and withdrawing their assets, the Islamic Republic has gone bankrupt. My brother said to inform friends and acquaintances to withdraw their assets from the bank. When the situation of state banks is like this, the situation of private banks will be worse.”

Another citizen announced: “Today I went to the bank to withdraw money. The bank employee announced that we currently don’t have cash, you need to wait until we bring it for you. I said I need it and have to give money to another person. The bank employee said make an inter-bank transfer, I said that person wants cash. The bank employee announced we don’t have more than 5 or 6 million tomans to give you. But after I shouted why aren’t you giving us our own money, finally they gave me 10 million tomans.”

Iranians by launching a call with the message “Breaking the pillars of the economy, breaking the dictator’s pillar” announced fellow citizens join the bank withdrawal campaign, we are countless and in unity we can soon reach freedom.
