Civil Activists Gather Outside Karaj Prison

A group of teachers and labor and human rights activists gathered outside Karaj Prison to protest the conditions of imprisoned teachers and workers, demanding the release of Ismail Abdi, Shapour Ehsani Rad, and other imprisoned teachers and workers.

This gathering took place after security forces prevented several of their previous demonstrations.

Based on images and videos shared on social networks on Saturday, workers’ protest gatherings were held in more than 20 cities across Iran, with some of them, including in Tehran, facing interference from police and security forces.

The International Workers’ Day gatherings were held in Iran under circumstances where security agencies had previously prohibited labor and occupational activists from participating in these demonstrations.
