Closure of Hamburg Islamic Center by Order of German Interior Ministry

Germany’s Interior Ministry announced this morning the closure of the Hamburg Islamic Center and its affiliated organizations.

Given that reports had previously been published regarding the Hamburg Islamic Center’s ties to the Islamic Republic, and calls had been made for the closure of these centers, on the morning of Wednesday, July 24th, 54 locations associated with the Hamburg Islamic Center in eight regions of Germany were inspected.

According to the German Interior Ministry’s statement, these centers were pursuing extremist objectives, radical activities, and the promotion of extremist Islam. Nancy Faeser, Germany’s Interior Minister, also stated in this regard: “Today we closed the Hamburg Islamic Center, which promoted extremist Islam and totalitarian ideology. This ban does not mean a ban on the ‘peaceful’ teachings of Shia Islam.”

According to Reuters reports, searches of locations associated with the Hamburg Islamic Center in November paved the way for the ban on the Hamburg Islamic Center.

It should be noted that the Hamburg Islamic Center’s website is currently not accessible to the public.
