Corona in Iran; Over 4,000 Cases Identified and 239 Deaths in 24 Hours

Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Wednesday that over the past 24 hours, the number of deaths caused by corona in Iran remained over 200 and the number of cases exceeded 4,000.

According to Wednesday’s report on October 7, the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Sima Lari announced that during this period, 239 people died from corona in Iran and 4,019 new patients were identified.

With the inclusion of these figures, the official number of corona victims and infected people in the country by noon today has reached 27,658 and 483,844 respectively.

Among the newly infected, 1,820 of them were hospitalized in treatment centers across the country and 4,274 are in critical condition.

Health Ministry officials, despite serious doubts from independent sources about the accuracy of government statistics, continue to provide daily reports of corona patients and victims in Iran, but refrain from providing detailed statistics.

Independent sources believe the corona statistics in Iran, particularly regarding deaths, are several times higher than government figures.

Masoud Mardani, a member of the corona response headquarters in Tehran province, also said on Wednesday: “The transmission power of the virus has increased 3 to 9 times, and if people travel and become infected, we will no longer have empty beds to treat them.”

Mr. Mardani, in an interview with ISNA news agency, added that currently the transmission power of the virus is such that “usually individual patients no longer visit, and we have 3 or 4 infected in one family.”

According to him, 105 hospitals in Tehran are dealing with corona-infected patients and the spread situation of this virus in the province is “beyond red.”

Mr. Mardani explicitly said: “Currently the hospitalization situation in hospitals is not satisfactory and there is no possibility of admission.”

Alireza Zali, commander of the corona response headquarters in Tehran province, also said that over the past 10 days “there are no signs of improvement in indicators related to hospitalizations, outpatient visits and mortality in Tehran.”

He added that given the greater number of hospitalizations compared to hospital discharges, “new measures” should be considered.

Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran, also asked all people and officials of the country without any “exception” to observe health protocols.

He asked people to “be prepared, we do not want to impose restrictions on people, but in the current situation we have no choice but to increase restrictions and limitations.”

Currently, Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, East Azerbaijan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Qazvin, Lorestan, Ardabil, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Gilan, Bushehr, Zanjan, Ilam, Razavi Khorasan, Mazandaran, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Alborz, West Azerbaijan, Central, Kerman, North Khorasan, Hamadan and Yazd provinces are in red condition.

Kurdistan, Hormozgan, Fars and Golestan provinces are also in alert condition.
