Death of 10-Year-Old Girl in Mashhad Due to Child Abuse; Two Children Dead Following Wall Collapse in Mazandaran

Following the death of a ten-year-old girl due to assault and battery, the Mashhad Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of her stepmother.

According to the Iran News Agency (IRNA), the ten-year-old girl died two nights ago as a result of a fractured lumbar vertebra and internal bleeding at one of Mashhad’s hospitals.

The special homicide investigator at the Mashhad Prosecutor’s Office stated that the girl was without vital signs when transferred to the hospital.

According to the investigator, the girl had been living with her father and stepmother, and her stepmother has been arrested.

The Law on the Protection of Children and Adolescents, after ten years of waiting, was circulated to government agencies by Hassan Rouhani on Saturday for implementation. According to this law, child abuse is recognized as a crime.

Wall Collapse and Death of Two Children

According to the Iran News Agency (ILNA), on Saturday, the collapse of an old wall in one of the villages of Sari County in Mazandaran claimed the lives of two children.

In this incident, which occurred at 7 p.m. in the village of “Valikchaal” in Sari County, two children aged 10 and 8 were severely injured and were transferred to the hospital by local residents.

The report states that the casualties of this incident died due to the severity of injuries and wounds inflicted; the cause of the incident is being investigated by authorities.

Valikchaal village is located 90 kilometers from the city of Sari in the Dodangeh district.
